Hokoriku Area Pass and Kanazawa Loop Bus 2024/9/30 20:03
I read here on the site that by purchasing hokoriku area pass I am entitled to a coupon to use the kanazawa loop bus, but on the official site I do not read anything about it. Can you confirm that this is the case? And how do I redeem the coupon? Where does it arrive?

It seems that these discount offers were discontinued.

The local JR buses in Kanazawa are covered by that rail pass, and I have used the JR bus a number of times (when I had a nationwide JR pas, which also covers it). It was very uncrowded and met my needs better than the Loop Bus, but I did have to spend a fair amount of time prior to my trip figuring out the routes and schedules. It doesnft run as regularly or as often, and isnft as tourist-oriented. At the time, I just used the information on the JR West bus web site to figure out which buses to take, but itfs possible that Google Maps covers these routes accurately now (I donft know), which would make things easier. The bus information window outside in front of the station gave me a helpful printed schedule once and confirmed which platform the bus left from.

The last couple of times I was in Kanazawa I used cabs strategically and walked some stretches. Most of the sightseeing venues in Kanazawa are walking distance from the station, and if you have to wait long for a bus sometimes it is faster to walk. With two or more people, a couple of cab rides might not be much more expensive than Loop Bus tickets.

The times I was there, the loop buses were always so crowded that I didnft want to take them, but of course many people do.

I used the Area Pass for train travel earlier this year. I think that you can still use JR buses in Kanazawa by showing your pass, but these are not the same as the loop buses. Here's a map of the JR routes:

I didn't bother with the JR buses and just bought a day ticket for the Kanazawa loop bus when I got there. The ticket office is right at the bus stop and it isn't expensive.

How you get your physical rail pass depends on the method you used to buy it. The details are all on the official site, along with the exchange office locations. Note that while there are exchange offices in Kyoto and Osaka, you can't actually use the pass until you get to Tsuruga.

grazie, infatti penso che non farò nessun pass visto che vengo da tokyo e mi serviva anche per risparmiare la tratta toyama-kanazawa,
