Spouse of a PR visa from working visa 2024/7/14 15:17
Hi.
I have a dependent status, and now am changing it to the working visa. My husband has applied for a permanent resident status. So imagine my husband gets his permanent residence. If I get a 1 year working visa, will I still be eligible to apply to "spouse of permanent resident" status? I've seen rules about having 3 or 5 year visa in order to apply to permanent resident status, but is it necessary for the spouse of permanent resident? Thanks

As far as I know, family/relation-based resident status is available to you if you qualify. Meaning, if you ARE the spouse of a gpermanent residenth status holder, you should be eligible to apply. (You are not applying for gPR,h but gspouse of PR,h correct?)

When you want to apply for gPR,h that is when the condition of having been granted the longest duration (either 3 or 5 years) under the current resident status applies.
