I will be returning to Japan after a trip back home to India and want to bring along small quantities of millets and lentils (not more than 500g each) . Will I have to declare this or can I bring them in and go through the green channel customs wise

An inspection certificate and immigration inspection are required. https://www.maff.go.jp/pps/j/search/ikuni/in.html¨ [Inspection certificate and inspection required at the time of entry]: If you attach an inspection certificate (Phytosanitary certificate) issued by the government agency of the exporting country and pass the inspection at the airport / port plant quarantine counter, you can bring it in. can.
