To Perry and others,
Don't lose hope and don't give up! Sometimes without additional documents is a good thing, only the screening process will take time.
As for my experience, our agent try to visit or call Immigration weekly to follow up, perhaps can also inform the officer that your company would like you to start work on certain date so they could expedite the screening process.
Hopefully more and more good news is coming! 🙏

Got my husband's COE today! Praise God!
Type:Dependent Nationality: the Philippines Application Date: May 23rd Applied personally, no lawyer assistance Date Approved: Sept 26th Date received via post: Sept 28th via mail Additional requirements: None Office: Nagoya Immigration
The secret is to pray and wait patiently. Have faith in the procedure. Would also like to thank this page for keeping me informed every day. For successful applicants, posting your COE status here along with the dates would be really beneficial for those who are waiting. When I noticed an approved dependent post one week ahead of my application, I proceeded according to the computation I had in my head and it never missed my calculation. But still, it may vary from office to office and the number of applicants they have to cater, especially in the main regional immigration offices.
May all your COEs be granted ASAP! God bless us all!

@Clover
Hi Clover, Ifm already in Japan and about to start working on Oct 2 under Specialist in Humanities visa. I would love to bring my husband and daughter with me. Do you think I can already apply for their COEs for dependent visa application even if I havenft worked for a year yet? I checked the requirements and a tax certificate is included, but I guess I can only obtain the tax certificate after working for a year.
Anyone here who can give an advice regarding my situation? How early can I apply for my dependentsf COE?
Thanks in advance for your time and response.

@Nika
Welcome to Japan!
I've watched a video bout someone who was in a nearly same circumstance to yours and, two months after arriving, she was allowed to bring her spouse here on a dependent visa. But that was about 3 years ago. Maybe things have changed drastically, especially after the pandemic. She did not have a tax certificate back then so she just provided her pay slip and passbook to prove her capacity to support her husband while hefs here.
As for myself, Ifm almost a decade here so I was able to provide all the listed reqs. Ifm afraid I couldnft strongly give my two cents as to how early you could apply for a dependent visa. Hope others here could respond to your concern the soonest.

@Clover
Hi again, Clover,
Thanks for your prompt response regarding my question and for somehow giving me an idea. I hope Nagoya IB will allow me to submit just my certificate of employment together with my payslip next month. Homesickness is really killing me.
Anyway, congratulations! Hoping everyone here in this forum will be able to obtain their COEs.

Same sentiments here. Please try. If you never try, you will never know. :)
@007 My application date is a week ahead of yours so you could expect this week or next week is your release date as long as you have provided all the docs. Keep the faith!

Alright so I got gnewsh about my application. My employer and I went to immigration in person to get info.
So the reason why Ifm still waiting and got no news after 8 months, is because immigration actually never received my application (!). For a reason unknown to my employer and I, the lawyer has never sent my documents to immigration, even though they said they did so (theyfre a certified and experienced lawyer, so Ifm baffled this kind of things could happen). To be fair, we should have been more suspicious earlier, when the lawyer dodged the question and found excuses every time we asked for the application numberc (which we never got of course)
So we filed a new application on the spot (I had all the documents with me). The lady at the counter who received my application told me I should expect a 2-3 month wait.
Ifm angry and frustrated to have lost 8 months with this absurd situation, but relieved we were able to regain full control of my application (I finally have an application number lol)
My new data: COE type: engineer/humanities (cat 3 company) Office: Tokyo Shinagawa New application date: 09/30 Nationality: EU Status: Waiting
Hopefully Ifll get the result by next year, thatfll be a nice Christmas present!
