COE processing times

Why there are no any updates from tokyo immigration

I think Tokyo immigration is shifting to a new place hence the no update for some time now.

I can assure you that Tokyo immigration is still issuing COEs, it's just that most people waiting for a COE don't post on forums.


A friend of mine just got their COE (still no news for mine sadly) :

COE type: engineer/humanities (cat 3 company)
Office: Tokyo Shinagawa
Submission date: August 2nd
Nationality: French
Status: Approved September 20th

Yeah, I'm surprised too, but good for them! It shows once again that there is no mathematical equation that predetermines your result date. We can try to guess about the probabilities, but in the end it's all in the hands of immigration...

I did all this process by myself with my husband. I hope this information help you guys, and their Coe's arrives soon.

Hello Guys, Good Morning. My previous account (ggss0123) not accessible. Sorry for no post in last week. Finally, I have good news to share. I have received my COE last week by email.

Type : Engineer
Applied date : 31-May-2024
Approved date : 18-Sep-2024
Received date : 19-Sep-2024
Waiting duration : 111 days
Category : Don't know exactly. But, it definitely 1 or 2.

I heard from lawyer that Tokyo immigration is speeding up the COE application approvals. So, for Tokyo immigration applicants, have faith and be confident. I wish you all to get your COEs soon. See you all in Japan.

For very long waiting applications (on or before May month), i recommend to request your company/colleague/friend to directly visit immigration and enquire them to expedite the process.

@Perry @SDB Thank you. I was more anxious as the deadline is nearing. Now it's relaxed. Visa stamping process initiated. Once it arrives, will fly to Japan.

@Perry : My company lawyer didn't visit immigration office. My friends in Japan recommended to make a visit if it's delayed more than 4-5 months.

I had applied my documents in april 19...
And its near October...i still have no clue about my coe information....
