Bus from JR Kitsuki to city center?

I will go to Kyushu 2 weeks from now (will visit Fukuoka, Kumamoto, Beppu, Kurokawa Onsen) and will stay 2 nights in Beppu. I plan to visit Kitsuki to see some interesting and beautiful things in this historic city. I will take JR from Beppu.
However, by reading Kitsuki guide from Japan-guide, I found that the city center is 5 KM far from station. I'd like to know if there is bus run between JR Kitsuki and city center? I don't want to use taxi, since I think it's too expensive (1500-200 yen).
