Chichibu Yomatsuri Fireworks

Hi All,
Sorry for this silly question. I know it's personal taste but from your experience, how much difference is the fireworks on the 2nd compared to the one on the 3rd of December?
My reason for asking is - If I'm able to take the train from 9pm from Seibu Chichibu to Ikebukuro then to Haneda, I'm gonna save $200 on flight :D But that means I have to leave the parade around 8:30pm (?) Is it too early for the best thing of the night?
Just to note that I have booking hotel on the 2nd and the hotel is near Seibu Chichibu station. I will have full day of 2nd and full day of 3rd (till 8:30pm) for the festival.
Appreciate your advice.
