Hi all, Just want to add and ask information about naturalization. Homukyoku: Tokyo First Consultation: Feb 24 Second Consultation: Jun 24 and my Third Consultation will be Dec 24. Is anyone know why it's really taking so much time for every consultation, it's because Tokyo one is the most crowded of all?
I didn't use any lawyer and the case worker say I'm good with all the document I bring on the second consultation, other than home country document everything else is easy to get. I translated it myself and she said it's ok, only you need to translate every details including the stamp if possible, also need 2 copies of the translation.

Hi everyone,
I will be submitting my documents for naturalization next month, and I'm feeling quite stressed about the it. My Japanese level isn't excellent, so I would like to prepare for it in advance.
Could you please share your experience with submitting the documents interview? What questions were you asked, and how long did the interview take? Is it possible for my application to be rejected at this stage, or does that only happen after the main interview (probably next year)?
Thank you in advance and good luck everyone !!!

Hi everyone,
Apply date: 2023/11/28 Interview Date: 2024/03/04 Phone Call in Office :2024/03/05 Home Visit:2024/03/06 Extra Documents: 2024/04/30 (Just Sign a paper for my child)
I got a call 2024/07/03 I missed call from Houmukyoku. Then I called them. They ask currently I am in Japan or not. or is there any chance to go or is there any change etc. I just say I am in Japan and no change at all. I heard it is common. Do you think there is any chance to happen any bad from this situation ?

I think your case is going to be approved soon. Keep checking kanpou everyday. By the way which homekyoku did you apply?

Hi everyone,
I have a question about the Japanese test:
• I had my first consultation in March 2024. • I need to submit my documents in August 2024. • I thought the test would be on the same day as the interview (probably 2025).
-> However, I saw some of you mentioning that the test takes place during the document submission. Is that correct? I'm stressed and not ready at all!!!!
Thank you!

No. Its Very rare on same day. After you submit the document, First they are gonna go through the documents. if everything is fine then they will schedule an interview within 4-5 months. If you can answer fluently they might not take the test.

Thanks for your answer but they actually told me at the first consultation that I will take a test since the officer felt that my Japanese wasn't that good :(. So, I will take it I just don't know know in what step.
• For those who have taken the Japanese language test, could you please let me know at which step of the process you had it?
• How long does it last?
• If you fail the test, do you need to reapply for the entire naturalization procedure from the beginning, or can you just retake the test? How long does it take to be able to retake it if you fail?
Thanks a lot!

Hello friends! Allow me to hop on the waiting train.
I'm been following this forum so a while but haven't seen anyone from Osaka or submitting to Osaka branch. Nevertheless, here's my current status
Osaka legal affairs bureau Apply date: 2024/2/29 Interview Date: 2024/05/09
Am still waiting for the confirmation call. Since I have no penalties, debt or any other problems throughout my stay in Japan (8 years), I'm hoping to receive the call around Aug or Oct.
Was originally going to prepare naturalization back in 2023, but when I went for consultation for the first time, one of the staff told me I have to wait another year to be able to start making or even applying for naturalization.
However, it seems that you are able to submit applications if you're married to a Japanese citizen for more than a year which I did but was told otherwise. Feeling strange after half a year, search the internet and found out the truth...
Went to the for second consultation again and ask another staff and they finally allow to me start preparing for naturalization (They apologized for the incorrect information).
But luckily my tantousha is very kind and helpful and she told me that she will do her best to submit it to the Tokyo Main Office asap and shall be able to get the result around 6~8 months time.
Break a leg

@Mrtial
As long as you didn't lie in your documents, you should be fine. Most of the question asked was to make sure what you've written is the same as what you've replied to their question. They even asked my about my parent's birthday which I shamefully forgotten and couldn't answered it lol.
Like I've said, my tantousha is very kind, so a lot of gossiping regarding my current job and future plans, etc for around 50 minutes. And my wife also had almost the same questions (I think it's to prevent you for lying) for around 20 minutes.
It was a pleasant interview for me.

@Mrtial I got the N3 on 2019, but I didn't improve my Japanese in the meantime since I only use English at work. My understand is fine but my speaking is so so that's why I asked that questions in my previous post :(
