Hey guys,
I want to know if it’s okay to make a photo copy of the (Reason for Naturalization) . The paper that you have to write why you are naturalizing.If only one paper is not enough?
Anyone with that knowledge?

Yes, you may photo copy a few papers for backup in case you messed up. However, all words must be written by pen aka yourself. So if you messed it up, you have to rewrite everything again.

@nick
Thank you for the information.
I’m also confuse about the documents that I must write all my income. I don’t have any side income and I’m not married yet.So the only income is my salary because I’m 正社員。 Do I have to write the Net Income or the gross income (after deduction or before deduction) And my salary is not all that fixed because I sometimes have over time on certain months. How is the right way to write it.
よろしくお願いします。

Hi everyone,
I hope you're all doing well this summer Monday. I’m seeking some advice regarding the residency requirements for naturalization in Japan. Quick breakdown:
2014 - 2018: Student Visa; 2018 - 2021: Working Visa; 2021 - 2022: Student Visa ⭐️ (Point in Question); 2022 - Present: Working Visa
When I spoke to the staff at the Legal Affairs Bureau recently, he seemed doubtful about whether my time here on a student visa (2021-2022) could count towards the continuous residence requirement for naturalization.
This has left me a bit confused and worried, and I can’t find any information about this in any law book. While I wait for my immigration lawyer to get back on this I was wondering if anyone else know anything about this?
From my understanding, Japan’s Nationality Law requires five years of continuous residence, but does it matter if part of that time was under a student visa?
Has anyone else been through this process or encountered similar doubts? Any insights or experiences you could share would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks so much for your help!

@Success
Request for the pay slip from your company and get it officially stamped (by PR) first.
After you got it stamped, just write the Net Income (before deduction) accordingly (just follow your pay slip's written amount and you should be fine). Please be noted that staff at Legal Affairs Bureau will likely to ask you to prepare the latest pay slip before submitting it. So it would be best to get all the documents sorted out first then only request for the latest pay slip or else they will ask you to get the latest one.
Ex. If you plan to submit at Nov 1st, you should start preparing the pay slip by Oct mid.

@StrawberryJam
From what I was told by my tantousha (staff in charge), naturalization will not be granted if three years have not passed since changing from a student visa to a work visa within the five-year residency period.
However, I'm not sure if changing from Working Visa back to Student Visa resets the three year residency period or not.
For your case, you should just wait for your lawyer for more concrete information.

@StrawberryJam You need to be on work visa for minimum 3 years in past 5 years. If you are on Student Visa for less than 2 years in past 5 years then I think it should be fine. You may refer below link for more details https://www.tn-office.jp/category/1820156.htmlhere is the extract: A person has been residing in Japan with a valid status of residence for more than 5 years consecutively (at least 3 years of working period as well)

@ JACK Thank you for the reply.
When I submitted my documents in Saitama, I was told by the tantosha that I would receive the results within 8 to 10 months from the submission date.
According to you, it seems like I have to wait longer. By the way, did you change your job or something?
