Shugakuin Imperial Villa - mid December 2024/10/7 16:52
Hi.

We are thinking of visiting the villa in mid-December (e.g. 13 Dec).
Basing on the autumn foliage for this year, does anyone think there will be any left at the villa by that time ?
Thanks.

The second part of November is typically the best time for the autumn leaves in Kyoto, but lately with warmer temperatures, it can go into early December a bit more. You might see some in mid-December, but nothing to write home about. It's a good spot in Kyoto for the autumn leaves, but don't get your hopes up too much for that time. Fortunately, there is more to see there than just that.
Be aware also that you need reservations to visit (walk-ups are very dicey, especially with more and more people visiting Kyoto), and the koyo season is a very popular time.

Thanks Ken.

Yes, we have a reservation, but just wonder if it is worth going all the way there for the autumn leaves in mid-December, if any left at all.
May then wait for a more accurate forecast nearer to the time.
