Etiquette, giving a pocket knife

I would like to give small Swiss pocket knife as a gift to a host.

Swiss knives are widely recognized as useful tools and somewhat fashionable.
The only instance where knives are avoided as gifts is for wedding, as it suggests that they “cut” the ties of the married couple.
