Where to stay between Kurokawa and Yanagawa

HI
We are renting a car and our rough itinerary is
Fukuoka -> Beppu [stay 2 nights]
We use Beppu as our base to cover Yufuin and maybe kurokawa
Any recommendations where to stay if I want to cover Yame, Ureshino and Yanagawa
or any other places of interest after Beppu. I have 2 nights before heading back to Fukuoka.
I am skipping Nagasaki for future trips.

You can consider to travel
Yame inter mae
Hainuzuka
Kurume
Tosu
Saga
Takeo onsen
Ureshino onsen
You can choose any of this city as base place
