Best way to explore Lake Kawaguchi?

I will be traveling to Japan in November and would love to take a day trip from Tokyo to Lake Kawaguchi. I think renting a car might be the best option, but I'd rather pick up the car in Lake Kawaguchi to drive around rather than tdriving all the way from Tokyo. Is it easy to get from Tokyo to Lake Kawaguchi via public transportation and then pick up a car there? Thank you!

Yes, it is easy to get to Kawaguchiko by train or bus from Tokyo. Easier than by car I think.
