Bus ticket purchase at Shinjuku Bus Terminal? 2024/9/28 19:41
My wife and I would like to arrive at DisneySea before 08:30 on October 7th. We have our tickets.

I checked routes for train or bus for Shinjuku station to Disneysea.

Google maps suggests Bus at 07:20 and the link at the bottom of the screen for tickets is JR Bus Kanto. This leads to, for me a too complicated site, to follow to buy tickets.

Navitime App gave only train trips with 2 transfers. Not the go!

My question is,

Can I buy round trip bus tickets in advance at the Shinjuku Bus Terminal? Their website suggests - buy on the day of departure. I could not find a link for advance purchases.

I prefer to buy at the Bus Terminal and not through a 3rd party organisation.

Thanks in advance for any replies.

Cheers

It seems that you can't make a reservation for the bus for both ways.

I don't know how early you should line up because I haven't actually been on board.

Hi haro1210, I think we will go there at least 30 mins before the departure time if that's necessary.

However we are staying in Shinjuku from this Wednesday so getting to know the area will include a visit to the Shinjuku Bus terminal and see if we can book what's required.

Thanks again

Once you reach Tokyo and get used to the trains, you might find the train system quite useful too (and that train transfers are no big deal). Just as an alternative idea.

From Shinjuku, you take JR Chuo Line to Tokyo, then change to JR Keiyo Line to Maihama. Then from there it will be the Disney Resort Line to Disney Sea station.

In reality, the last ride is almost part of the park, so the transfer you would need to gmanageh is just one, at Tokyo station. Walking to the platform for JR Keiyo Line is a bit of a distance, but it should be well doable.
Either way, enjoy the trip :)

Thanks AK for your reply. Being a first timer with the trains in Japan I look forward to considering
transfers as - no big deal - as you suggest. :-)

I will be in Tokyo for 4 full days before going to DisneySea. This will involve some train travel for sure to tourist attractions. So training it to DisneySea could be the go!

I will hold off booking the return bus trip.

Thanks for your advice.

Re: Getting to Tokyo Disney Resort, weekday early morning 2024/10/1 14:42
You don't have to make that long transfer at Tōkyō Station.

From Shinjuku Station of JR,
trains depart frequently for Shin-kiba of the Rinkai Line.
At Shin-kiba, you can make a quick transfer to the JR Keiyō Line.

The Disney Resort Line (monorail)
connects Resort Gateway (near Maihama Station)
and Tokyo DisneySea. (#)
(If you use this monorail line three times or more in one day,
a free-ride card (700 yen) pays off.)

For the above three train rides,
you can tap-and-go with your IC card
(Suica, PASMO, or the compatible);
the total of the one-way fares is 1043 yen.

To catch a bus at Busta Shinjuku,
you go up to the departure terminal on the 4th floor,
and buy your paper tickets.
Currently bus rides from Shinjuku for TDR are not ready for IC cards.

(#)
You may hope to walk directly to Tokyo DiisneySea.
The resort monorail trains go circling counterclockwise only,
making a detour for people heading to DiisneySea.

My wife and I would like to arrive at DisneySea before 08:30 on October 7th.

That's a weekday morning.
The roads may get congested,
and stations and trains may get crowded.

It sounds worth considering staying at one of the six Tokyo Disney Resort Official Hotels.

Thanks omotenashi for the detailed explanations for train and bus travel to DisneySea.

I arrive in Shinjuku tomorrow night and will have a few days before DisneySea on the 7th to go through your suggestions and consider trains instead of the bus for the round trip.

Cheers
