About Nihon Shoki 2024/9/14 11:48
I am searching on a phrase by Mr.Toynbee
saying 'Nihon shoki is the Bible of Shinto'

Has anyone ever heard this?
If so, where did you read or hear?

please tell me any information on this!

Thanks!

Well, I don't know about Mr.Toynbee, but most adults in Japan know that Nihon Shoki and Kojiki are the basis of Shinto. And while Shinto doesn't really have a bible, the word "shinto" first appeared in Nihon Shoki, although the meaning wasn't the same as the one we use today.

good morning

Although there is no written scripture that describes Shinto doctrine,
Shinto considers the Kojiki and Nihon Shoki to be sacred texts.
