I'm exactly in the same situation as you and applied in April too.
Could you please update if you do change job?
I'm also effraid that this could affect the application as they want someone that has a "stable" income and thus job.

What worries me is if I get a new job and have 3 months trial period and then they ditch me…

Changing job is not an issue, as far as you inform himequok about changes in your situation. But make sure you shouldn't be jobless even for few days. And have stable income, and get Monthly salary which match your expenses, if you have dependents,your income should also increase. Good luck

Thank for the answer @Saadnk and @ Waitingguest100. I think i should stand my present job until i get the result from the homukyoku. It is right that they appreciate people who stay long years in one job. For them it means you have a stable life.

Can i ask which homukoku u applied for? I applied in Nagoya. They said that the homukoku in Nagoya is where takes u the longest waiting time because of the amount of applications. I wonder if i could wait until they give me the result. :(

Same situation here in Fukuoka, I have applied at Fukuoka homekyoku . This is my 11 months running, I don’t know how long it goes farther waiting. It’s really hard to wait, I want to come out from this .

I submitted in late May 2022 (Saitama), and was told to expect a call to schedule interview in 3-4 months.
Now I see a lot of you having big delays and its making me anxious. Is this delay everywhere or it heavily depends also on where do you apply?

I think you got a better response. I applied in June in tokyo and they said you will get a call in 6 month for interview. Since MOJ also part of the process if they delays then all the application get delays.

In my case they took a small test while consulting. It was about reading and writing very basic Japanese because the consultant thought my Japanese isn’t so great but I can apply since I can survive in Japanese with my Japanese. Once I submitted he asked me they will call for interview and they make take Japanese test but not sure they will take it or not. Depending on the office who will take care of my application. After interview if they feel like to take test they may take test. I have JLPT N2 let’s see.

My Japanese language is not good as well but my wife is a Japanese citizen and she will go together with me on the day of application. And I hope I can submit my application successfully next month.

I almost prepared all the documents and but some documents are remaining which I will prepared it next month and then will submit the documents.
you have N2 Japanese certificate, so I am sure they will not take another test from you but unfortunately I dont have Japanese language certificate but I stayed in japan for more than 7 years.

I have N2 but i still had to take a japanese test on the day i submitted all the documents.
“ Better to have N1, a 7-8 years old japanese kid can take N2 easily” said the staff in Homukyoku, when i handed in my N2 ceritficate. I was really sad when he said it.

As japan does not allow dual citizenship, Homequok informed me to submit renunciation certificate,which i already did. How long i still need to wait after submitting renunciation certificate to legal affairs? anyone have experienced this?

It’s usually 2 weeks after submitting renounce certificate. But they seems busy so it may take bit more time.

THEY ARE NOT UPDATING DAILY, MAYBE ONCE OR TWICE A WEEK.

That's so sad. some of the staff maybe dont behave well with foreigners.
Lets see what will happen in my case without having Japanese language certificate.

I have experianced this, dont need to worry, level of japanese test is very easy, where you have to convert Hiragana into katakana and Katakana to Hiragana and basic Kanji of grade2 level student. they will give you short story to read, take your time to understand and find answers from in it. so if your are fluent in Hiragana and Katakana, you can easily do it.
