Can I come back to Japan after 2 years? 2024/6/28 05:57
I lived in Japan for three years, but due to a family emergency, I left Japan. At the airport, immigration asked if I would be back or not, and I replied no, because I did not know how long the situation at home would be. So the immigration officer took my residence card. It's now been two years, and the family emergency has been resolved, I now want to come back to Japan. Will I be able to come back to Japan? If so, will my information still be in the Japanese database or has it been erased. Please help

Yes, you can come back! Why not? You never did anything wrong, or did you?
Certain things will still be in databases, so if you provide your previous IDs (such as MyNumber), you will be able to hook them up again.

Certainly you can come to Japan, but if you mean if you can come in on the same visa type/resident status as before, the answer would be gno,h because you returned your resident card upon departure. Youfll have to apply once again for whatever resident status you had before.

The immigration authorities will have some information about you (tied to your name & passport number), and the city hall would have records about your past stay.

I also agree with the above. If you want to visit, then you have no problems. If you want to live, then you need to reapply for your whatever visa you had before.

When I left when I was living in Japan, they either took my card or put a hole in my card. I've visited plenty of times since
