Himeji photography spots 2023/3/21 13:52
Hi All,

Could you please give me some vantage points to take photos of Himeji castle? I want to shoot from a higher place so that the castle is in the center or background with a lot of sakura. I will visit Himeji in 2 weeks time so I'm so excited for it :)

Many thanks.

It seems that you can shoot at Himeji City Reservoir Park [Otokoyama].
I don't know if you can see the cherry blossoms from there.

Here are some vantage points to consider:

Himeji Castle Otemae: This is the main entrance to the castle and offers a great view of the castle and the sakura trees. You can take photos from the castle's inner courtyard, or climb up to the top of the castle for a bird's-eye view.

Kokoen Garden: This is a traditional Japanese garden located next to Himeji Castle. The garden features several ponds and walking paths, and is a great place to take photos of the castle and cherry blossoms.

Himeji City Central Park: This park is located near the castle and offers a wide view of the castle and cherry blossoms. You can climb up to the top of the park's observation deck for an even better view.

Enkyoji Temple: This temple is located about 2 kilometers from Himeji Castle, but offers a unique and less-crowded view of the castle and cherry blossoms. The temple grounds are also home to several other historic buildings and gardens.

I hope these suggestions help, and that you have a great time exploring Himeji Castle and the surrounding area!
