My family and I are going to Miyagi and Iwate Prefecture this September 2024. I was thinking of taking them to an omakase sushi restaurant and to a yakiniku restaurant offering A4-A5 wagyu and gyutan. Please share your dining experiences! Are they worth it? Are they as good as the internet makes them seem? Do you have any recommendations?
Thank you very much!

I have no specific recommendation, but you can find many on Google maps. Actually I traveled from Hokkaido to Kyushu many times after 2020, every time check Google maps to find restaurants and all were very nice.
As far as I know there are numerous Sushi restaurants thoughout Japan, mainly for local people. These restaurants are not gOmakaseh sushi restaurants: They serve some low-price sets as well as Omakase sets (somewhat expensive). I visited them at Otaru, Toyama city, Ashoro (Hokkaido), and Nagasaki city and have their Omakase and some other dishes (5000-10000 yen per person) and enjoyed very much.
In Miyagi prefecture Shiogama city is famous for Sushi so there should be many Sushi restaurants which serve good Sushi. Of course you can find them in Sendai. I donft know about Iwate, but there should be many I think. In any case if you want to visit a popular restaurants (on google map) you may better reserve in advance. Some accepts web reservation, but many others accept only by telephone. Your hotel staff may assist you to reserve your seats.
Sendai is famous for Gyutan, but as far as I know, you may better visit Gyutan-specialized restaurants rather than Yakiniku restaurants which also serve Gyutan. Note that A4-A5 Wagyu is very expensive, and Gyutan is not so expenseve (many Gyutan restaurants uses imported non-Wagyu Gyutan I think). In this case also you might better check through Google maps and reserve via telephone.
