Narai-juku to Tsumago-juku via train

Hi, I plan to take the train from Narai station to Nagiso Station and then either the bus or the train to Tusmago-juku. I understand the routes, however I am unsure of how I will pay for the trains. I will not have an Suica card or a JR pass. Instead will only travel with a Pasmo Passport. I am assuming I will need to go up to some sort of machine at Narai station and pay for a ticket there with cash? I know it's such a simple question but I just wanted to make sure:)

Yes, you can purchase paper tickets with cash at the stations. IC cards cannot be used.
