takayama to lake kawaguchiko

what is the best way to go from takayama to lake kawaguchiko? Likely to travel in end Nov/ early Dec. Is it advisable to drive? What is the terrain if I were to drive? Previously there was a bus but now no more. Appreciate your advice!

I would definitely recommend driving if you're going to Kawaguchiko. To get a good view of Fuji-san, it is all about being in the right place at the right time. Bus doesn't go to all the spots and waiting for it could ruin your timing as well. In 2 weeks, I'll be driving from Takayama to Kawaguchiko also. There are several routes you can take. Quickest one, you will pass Kamikochi and Matsumoto before going south. Second one, you will pass Narai and Suwa before going south. Third one and furthest one will pass Tsumago and Magome in case you have a night to spare.
