Nebuta matsuri - where to stand

Hi,
We plan to be in Aomori during the Nebuta Matsury this year (August).
I have two questions:
1. What would be a good place to stand to get a good viewing? How crowded is it? Meaning, how difficult would it be to get a good viewing without reserved seats? 2. How is traffic? Are there parking lots ? Would driving be a bad idea at one of the festival nights (in terms of traffic jams, parking difficulties, etc.)?
Thanks!

The best place to view is at a corner where the floats turn. Look at the parade route map and get there early. Most people who manage to grab a good spot just sit on the ground, you may want to bring a small cushion for that purpose. The next best place to view is near/across from where the judges sit, because that's where the floats do little trick moves to score. Yes, it is very crowded (but worth it!).
I don't know anything about driving/parking.

Hi I agree with what was written about the corners and you can walk around or even stand behind chairs or sit There are food shops that put out chairs you can buy some food or drink and ask them to sit I have been to both Hirosaki and Aomori last summer And to Aomori one more time some years ago We enjoyed Hirosaki very much but the floats in Aomori were more artisticaly complicated . In hirosaki lots of Fans and some more If i were to choose Aomori will be my choice
With good planning you can catch both and even Kanto matsuri in Akita that is very impressive Plan the accomodation as written before We traveled by train so dont know about parking
