Fukuyama is a station along the JR Sanyo Shinkansen. Direct shinkansen trains connect Fukuyama Station to Shin-Osaka (about one hour, 7500 yen one way), Hiroshima (about 25 minutes, 4500 yen one way) and Tokyo (about 3.5 hours, 17,000 yen one way) among others. The Japan Rail Pass fully covers Sakura, Hikari and Kodama trains, but a supplement fee is required on Nozomi and Mizuho trains.

Getting around
Fukuyama Station is the main transportation hub of the city and is served by the shinkansen, local trains and buses. Fukuyama Castle stands immediately north of the station, while Tomonoura and Shinshoji Temple are on the rural peninsula south of the city center and can be accessed by bus.
